ChipFlume – Improved chip washing

ChipFlume – Improved chip washing

The quantity of water used when washing chips is a decisive factor in achieving successful results. ChipFlume extends the chip retention time during the washing stage and the result is cleaner raw material.

When optimizing the process it frequently happens that production levels widely exceed the design capacity.

A common problem at these mills has been extremely short refiner segment service life. Segment service life is in most cases directly related to the amount of sand, stones and contaminated material that accompanies the chips into the process.

Installing ChipFlume before the scrap separator means that the removal of sand and gravel begins earlier and with a higher water flow. The improvement in washing can be used to produce cleaner chips or to increase capacity.
