Washing and thickening
Thickening is usually done with a disc filter. The advantages of disc-filter technology are filtrate quality and the possibility for different water fractions. The disc filter operates in a consistency range of 1-10%, with discharge consistency being optimal to pulp pressing. When additional washing effect is needed, an OptiThick GapWasher can be applied to the process.
The OptiThick GapWasher utilizes two-sided, high-capacity dewatering technology for washing. The compact OptiThick GapWasher improves paper machine runnability and end-product quality while offering savings in installation and operating costs.
The
OptiThick GT gravity thickeners deliver high capacity for dewatering in a compact and cost-efficient process. OptiThick GT can be used in OCC pulp dewatering before pressing. When press filtrate is recirculated to the inlet of the GT thickener, fibers can be recovered and the clean water fed back into the process.
OptiThick DF disc filter
In designing the new OptiThick DF disc filter, Metso paid special attention to increasing operational capacity with accurate dimensioning and flow modeling to ensure the highest possible filtrate quality. The OptiThick DF introduces several new design features that improve efficiency and reliability while simultaneously simplifying maintenance and service procedures.
OptiThick DF improvements on the classic disc filter include:
- Flow modeled design
- Sector design of small volume and good flow
- Inlet box design giving even pulp feed
- Improved sealing of vat and filtrate valve
- External bearings for easy maintenance
- Inspection and repair hatches for safe operation and maintenance
