Metso has now developed an upgrade kit that raises the preheater’s capacity by up to 30%.
This upgrade of the preheater bottom is a product that involves Metso rebuilding the existing preheater to make a production increase possible. PreUp raises preheater capacity and delivers more even refiner feeding.
The original preheater bottom and discharge screw are removed and replaced by a bottom with a new design. The larger discharge screw in the new solution increases preheater capacity. The agitator blades are powered by an electric motor, via a worm gear, which makes it possible to install variable frequency drive. Frequency drive plays a major role in attaining stable feeding of chips to the refiner.
