LeanE
"Together we can improve your energy efficiency, without sacrificing productivity or quality"
In recent years, the costs of producing mechanical pulping have increased dramatically,at the same time the prices for some of the main paper grades produced from mechanical pulping have declined.
How much have costs increased? Well, probably the only word fit to describe it is “dramatically”. Clearly, energy-related costs have risen the most. Unfortunately, the market prices for energy – as well as raw materials for that matter – are difficult for mill management to control.
The cumulative effect of rising costs of operation and lean profit margins – not to mention current hard times – makes it difficult, if not impossible, for mill management to pass cost increases on to customers.
Lean - the key to survival
What’s the alternative? The only answer is to cut energy consumption and all excess and waste throughout the mechanical pulping process. Sensible and cautious management minimizes waste to obtain maximum efficiency. The mantra today is ‘lean operations in lean years’.
Because mechanical pulping processes consume such large quantities of energy, even the slightest energy-saving measures can mean great savings as well as a quick ‘Return On Investment’.
Lean is the key to survival, and LeanE is the new Metso approach for helping mills face this growing cost problem. The Metso LeanE concept, implemented in joint efforts with mill management, guarantees improved energy efficiency – without sacrificing capacity or quality.
